We arrived Saturday around 6:00 pm after a twelve hour drive from Buffalo. The weather was great, just a bit cloudy as we entered North Carolina. The trip was spring in fast forward. we started in Upstate New York where even the forsythia has not bloomed and watched as first the forsythia and then all the flowering trees came into view as we moved south. By the time we got to North Carolina, all the flowering trees were in bloom: red buds, dogwoods, crab apples, cherry and many others. In Charlotte we saw the first of the wild wisteria. Some of them climb over forty feet on tress and look like giant lilac trees. Of course, the most beautiful sight was Eibhlin as you can see.Click here to view a slide show of our first day.
